Molly McElwain in bathtub with white gogo boots, Elton John t-shirt.

Well, hello! I'm Molly McElwain, a destination wedding and elopement photographer based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Most don’t know how to say my last name (Mack-uhl-wayne)…nobody has ever gotten it on the first try, it’s ok. And just in case nobody told you today: you’re doing great, I love you, nice butt!

So, who am I? I am a hippy that has been all over and somehow ended up staying in her hometown. But if you’ve never been to Tulsa, you’re missing out! I love all things mid-century, I live in jumpsuits and weird earrings, and I am about as open as the jar of peanut butter on my counter.

I have a candid, precise style that sets me apart from other photographers. I'm not just interested in the usual, posed shots. Instead, I focus on capturing the candid and unseen moments that make your wedding day unique. My goal is to create images that not only look stunning, but also tell the story of your love and commitment to each other. You could fill two internets with what I don’t understand about the world, but if there is one thing I understand it’s human expression and emotion. I lead your sessions with emotion and strive to do that in every shoot.

I'm passionate about my work and I'll do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot. Whether that means braving the elements, climbing a mountain, or maneuvering into just the right position, I'll always go above and beyond to deliver images that you'll treasure for a lifetime. I am always down for a laugh or to break the ice on the dance floor.

So if you're looking for a photographer who's equal parts adventurous, sarcastic, talented, and dedicated, look no further! I can't wait to work with you and capture your beautiful love story. And if we see each other in our dreams, let’s be silly and goof around a little bit.

i became a photographer to celebrate memories

The reason I became a photographer was honestly a culmination of events. However, the core reason was to give people the memories that I cherish in my own life the most. After losing my father and brother, all I have left are pictures of the life they lead and their candid moments shape the way I shoot. As well as my lovely grandparents who had a love story for the ages. They met when my grandmother tripped and fell into my grandfather’s lap- LITERALLY TRIPPED AND FELL IN LOVE.

I also have this innate ability to feel the center of moments and note in my head, “this is the good stuff that I want to remember forever”. I breathe those moments in and savor them. However, not only can I do that for myself, but for others as well. I think it’s one of the things I love about myself the most. I can feel those moments FOR YOU and capture them through my lens to create artistic, candid, bold photos of the moments in between prompts that will make you gasp and say, “oh my gosh, look at how he look at me when he laughs!”-the GOOD good.

Let me give you those moments, frozen in time, with frames that will bring a smile to your face for so many years to come.
